Enter the World of ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ via the ‘Dragon Age Keep’
A fond note to all Dragon Age gamers: Rejoice! For ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ is here at last! What’s more, the Dragon Age Keep application has been adapted to make sure both old and new gamers get adequately familiar with the game application before they plunge in. In fact, players will be immediately and initially greeted with over three hundred questions – meaning that the old Dragon Keep gamers will be able to set up their previous game preferences as closely as possible.
The Dragon Age Keep: A little background Info
It all started in ‘Dragon Age: Origins’ (also known initially as ‘Dragon Age’). It is a mythical fantasy game world, interspersed with various races, including but not limited to mages, templars, elves, dwarves, dragons, warriors and even barbarians. Players, playing the role of a legendary guardian, must work to slay the archdemon of the world, Thedas, to end the civil war. But from that point on, each character sets the scene with his or her own decisions, developing the storyline with their choices and scenes.
For a more technical description, the Dragon Age Keep is a single-user, fantasy role-playing, free game application. And based on the decisions players previously made in ‘Dragon Age: Origins’ and ‘Dragon Age II’, players will be able to accordingly customize their scene, character and situation in the latest ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’.
What players can expect for ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’
The main popularity of Dragon Age rests in the fact that, in spite of a back story and base, the world of Thedas is deeply influenced by the respective player’s decisions and choices. So, keeping that in mind, the ‘Dragon Age Keep’ was designed to allow players to tailor their previous decisions and experiences (or simply even their preferences for new players) into the new ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ without having to adapt decade-old files for the same. This was an especially wise move considering that ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ can be played on the Xbox One, but the previous Dragon Age games could not.
Old and new players alike of the Dragon Age saga will probably have queries about this latest instalment. Old players, for instance, will consider that they might have to give up all their previous decisions making up their world in the previous Dragon Age games, especially seeing as the Xbox One is a new platform. Whereas, new players, after taking in the rich storyline and sub-plots, will wonder whether it is not wiser to begin by playing the previous instalments first, in order to understand the basic plot.
Luckily, neither extremes are necessary, thanks to BioWare’s insight in developing the ‘Dragon Age Keep’.
What is the ‘Dragon Age Keep’?
The ‘Dragon Age Keep’ is a free, shrewd, and interactive web application that can run on any browser capable of HTML5 technology. However, BioWare knew that it wasn’t feasible to import the previous, decade-long decisions and scenarios of the world into the new game. In fact, it does not even support the save-import function. No, the only way any player can infuse their previous settings into the web app will be to answer the 300 (or over) interactive, multiple-choice questions. It is the only way the user can design their current settings and characters in ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’.
The extent of the details is again up to the user here. You may either choose each and every detail of the world, or you may limit yourself to the basic plot-lines and allow the web app to fill in the blanks. And the best part is, the entire design can be played as animation clip, and the user can further change it after previewing it – an especially useful feature for new Dragon Age players.
In short, with the incredible animation, intensive plot, and high-quality voice-overs – among a multitude of other alluring features – ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ is not something any gamer worth his or her salt should miss!
